Melody Memory Project

Memories that connect

The Melody Memory Project in Frames is a moving photo exhibition at Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam, where music, memory and identity come together. The project focuses on elderly people of Indo, Indonesian and Moluccan descent living with dementia, for whom music from their youth forms a powerful brudge to the past.

Photographer Elles Tuhusula and documentary filmmaker Aty Samadikun captured intimate moments where music unlocked deep emotions. The exhibition not only features powerful images but also shares stories of comfort, strength and connection.

Organized in collaboration with Alzheimer Indonesia Netherlands, the exhibition demonstrates how cultural sounds can activate memory, touch the heart and evoke a sense of homecoming. A tribute to the power of music and to the people who bring it to life.

The exhibition is free to visit until July 6th in the tropical atrium of Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam.
